This is the tenth in a series of posts, one for each day, of an incredible 2-week volunteer & adventure trip to Costa Rica I took in December 2022. We strolled around the beautiful hotel grounds in the morning, admiring the view of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Arenal is one of seven historically active Costa Rican volcanoes. It measures at least 5,358 ft (1,633 m) high and is conically shaped with a crater 460 ft (140 meters) in diameter. Geologically, Arenal is considered a young volcano estimated to be less than 7,500 years old.…

This is the ninth in a series of posts, one for each day, of an incredible 2-week volunteer & adventure trip to Costa Rica I took in December 2022. I wasn’t sure this trip would happen, but luckily it did. Today was a jam-packed day. After a delicious breakfast, we met a local organic coffee farm owner who was dropping off our order of coffee. Normally we would have toured his farm, but COVID shut down tours and they haven’t started back up. Totally understandable and very kind of him to drop off the coffee. I wasn’t sure this trip would happen, but luckily it did. After a delicious hearty breakfast, we loaded up in the van. This is the seventh in a series of posts, one for each day, of an incredible 2-week volunteer & adventure trip to Costa Rica I took in December 2022. I wasn’t sure this trip would happen, but luckily it did. After one last stop at Turtle Trax, we loaded into the van and made our way to Monteverde, located northeast of Playa San Miguel in the mountains. The map says over three hours, but It took a little over 5 hours, with a few stops along the way. It was so interesting to tour the area, see how another culture lives and get a glimpse inside their daily lives and community. It was sad to see all of the garbage that washed up on the shore every morning. But we did our part and cleaned up quite a bit.
